What makes our country famous abroad

· there are many things that the foreigners imagine if they hear the name Czech republic :
The rich ancient history and the fortress and castles, proving many wars and fights which our country suffered from
The noble Prague with 100 towers, huge bells and red roofs
Charles university
The green hills and mountains with dense forests, brooks and rivers (Sumava)
Communism and secret police (mainly young American)
Ice hockey (Nagano)
The beer and pubs
The glass
Classical music and concerts in rich-decorated concert halls
Sumava - is a place in Europe with the densest forest, the highest mountain is Plechy (1378), but the best known is Boubin (1362) for its origin forest; it creates a nature boundary with Germany so you can meet many German there (e. g. collecting blueberries); there is a spring of our almost national river Vltava, that creates the biggest dam in CR - Lipno, where many Czech and German spend their holidays
The beer and pubs - it is said but an average Czech drinks about 160 litres of beer every year, which puts us on the 1st place in the world; the second are German, so it is why they like to come to CR so much - the beer is cheap and they can choose from several pubs almost everywhere; if there is a village, there must be a pub in it and you rather find a pub there than a foodshop; many pubs are of a low standard (they are home for permanently drunk people), but you can find the nice ones also (especially in Prague)
Charles university - was founded in Prague in 1348 by Charles IV as the first in the middle Europe and attracted many famous teachers from the middle Europe; in the time of reformation it was an important centre of Wycliff’s and Jan Hus’s opinions
