Canada

Canada is the second largest country in the world(after Russia).It is situated in the Northern Hemisphere and occupies northern part of Northern Amerika.It consist of ten provinces and two territories:Alberta(capital Edmonton), Saskatchewan(Regina), Manitoba(Winnipeg), British Columbia(Victoria;chief city Vancouver), Ontario(Toronto), Quebec(Quebec), New Brunswick(Frederiction), Prince Edward Island(Charlottentown), Nova Scotia(Halifax), Newfoundland(St.John´s).On the north is the Yukon Territory and the Northwest Territories.
Canada can be dividing into five major regions:The first region is the Appalachian region - there are small coastal provinces:New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. The second region are the lowlands near the Great Lakes and the River St. Lawrence.There is industrial heart of Canada.This region produce crops, tobacco and fruits. The third region is the Canadian Shield. It constitutes almost half of Canada.It is area surrounding Hudson Bay.There is natural richness including gold, silver, zinc, copper, iron, platinum and uranium.
The fourth region are interior plains known as the Prairies which are great Canadian wheat lands. There are raised cattle in the higher areas.
The fifth region is the Cordilleran region.It is a strip of mountainous terrain which includes most of British Columbia, the Yukon Territory and surrounding islands.The highest mountain in Canada is Mount Logan(6050) in the Yukon Territory. Canada has about one third of the world´s known fresh water areas.The biggest lakes are:Lake Superior, Lake Huron, Lake Erie, Lake Ontario.Lakes entirely in Canada are:Great Bear Lake, Great Slave Lake, Lake Winnipeg and Athabasca. The longest Canadian river is the Mackenzie and flows into the Arctic Ocean.The Yukon, the Columbia and the Frazer flow into Pacific and the Saskatchewan, Churchill and Nelson Rivers flow into Hudson Bay.
