An American Easter
The main term connecting with Easter is the lent. This is period of the time 40 days before the Easter Sunday. Many believers use this time to remember the memory of the Jesus Christ. A lot of people give up anything what is very important for them. Some people give up eating chocolate or drinking alcohol. Some people can fast. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday. A lot of churches hold services and a bit of ashes are put on heads of the believers as a symbol of humility and the inevitability of death. The last week of the lent is called Holy Week. Holly Week starts on Palm Sunday. People celebrate the triumphal entry of the Jesus Christ into the Jerusalem. People waving the branches of the palm trees greeted him. These same people wanted his death next week. On Maunday Thursday Protestant churches hold a special service to remember the Last Supper which was the last meal of Jesus Christ. On Good Friday the churches commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ by the leaders of Jerusalem. Many believers don‘t eat or little. Easter Sunday is the contrast to Good Friday because people celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ from death.
