the SOUTHWEST
Southwest is a dry, semi-arid land with deserts,pueblos,cattle,cowboys
and sagebrush.There are the second largest state of the US - Texas.
Texas produce oil and cattle.In Texas, there are two big states(Houston
and Dallas)but the capital is Austin.There is aerospace industry and
centre of NASA in Houston.Dallas is 150 years old city.It´s historical
city for the US.Dallas is bussines district today.People say, Dallas
revolves rounnd the dollar.There is the biggest concentration of Cadillacs
on the world(outside Saudi Arabia).New Mexico is a bilingual state,
because in 1610, the Spanish was founded the state capital, Santa Fe.
It became Mexican and later in 1846 American.There is low - rise houses
of adobe.
FLORIDA - the sunshine state
Florida is the southern most state.Florida was discovered by the Spanish
explorer Ponce de Leon and its name means full of flowers, because there
was many refugees from Cuba,Latin America and Haiti.The center of Florida
is Miami.Today half of the people in Miami are Hispanic.One area of the town
known as Little Havana is bilingual.Florida was bought from the Spanish in 1819.
Julia Tuttle conviced railroad bussinesman Henry Flagler to build railroad here.
This railroad with invention of airconditioning turn Miami into popular resort area.
Then the Depression came and hurricane washed away a section of the railroad,
but the restoration came during World War II.A lot of people go to Florida when
they retire.
